The Centre set up the Instituto de Investigación
Lingüística y Literaria/Institute of Linguistic and Literary Research
in 1995 to encourage a deeper and more original understanding of
the theories and practices involved in linguistic research, teaching
techniques, language acquisition and literary production. The constitution
of the Institute clearly defines the work it sets out to do:
"The
objective of the Institute is to invite all those working in the
areas of language and literature (teachers, researchers, writers,
publishers, and so on) to come together as members of an association
so as to exchange ideas, encourage new projects, and generally to
form a grouping that would strive to work for the benefit of all
members, by whatever means possible. Among the objectives of the
Institute are:
- to
illuminate linguistic and literary culture
- to
examine the effect of multi-ethnic influences on language, literature
and thought
- to
encourage genuine Mexican movements in linguistics and literature
- to
carry out historical research
- to
publish or otherwise make public the work of the Institute."
The
Institute has organised a conference each semester since its foundation
and the results of some of its research have been published as articles
in various journals. |
